If ever there was a time that kids loved to dress up is on the 31st of October (Halloween night), however in saying that, so do the biggest majority of big kids to (adults). Halloween is time a for having fun and throwing parties so therefore the reason behind much excitement the kids show when trying on their ghoulish Halloween costumes.

The earlier your plans are sanctioned for a Halloween party the better so as not to have to last minute hiccups which cause disappointment e.g. delivery of the wrong size Halloween costume you ordered from the fancy dress store. With the world the way it is today parents are desperate to protect their children and if that means forbidding them to go trick or treating then so be it. If this decision be made in your household then there are plenty of ways to put a smile back on the kiddie’s faces behind their devilish masks

One way to overcome this is to accompany your children on the evening; you will be surprised just how much fun it can be. By going along with the little ones dressed up as imps you can get a better understanding of why that in past years when it was safe for them to go out alone they get so excited.

Another solution is to throw a Halloween party if you have commitments preventing you from trick or treating with the kids. Under your supervision, leave the kids in charge and allow them to answer other trick or treaters who come knocking at your door. Let the children donate sweets money or edibles; another good idea is to let the children help you bake monster cookies to give as a treat.

It can prove to be cost affective if your neighbours who feel the same as you on the matter about children trick or treating alone come together in unison and share the cost of throwing a Halloween street party, by doing this responsibilities can be divided between each family participating. Families can be allotted a particular task i.e. preparing the food, hanging up decorations or organizing the entertainment, i.e. games music and competitions like for the best Halloween costume.

Other Activities for your party to keep the kids happy can include the popular Halloween pumpkin decorating. What is needed for this are acrylic paints, brushes, paint pens, other art supplies for decorating pumpkins. Always supervise young children and allow for mess.

Give the children their own personalized trick or treat bag and fill it full of their favourite yummies, candy will be welcomed along with a surprise novelty wrapped up inside. Halloween games come no better that the hot favourite Halloween bone hunt, for this game you will need small plastic bones; prizes, be careful with young toddlers and small particles.

Get enough bones for each child. Mark some of the bones as prize bones. Scatter the bones throughout the party area. If the kids start to show signs of boredom announce the Halloween bone hunt and watch their faces light up knowing they have to run a bone hunt. If you forget the bones I’m sure a creative mind will have you think of something else like hiding dollar bills.

Kids love movies and especially scary ones, however you may have those in contrast so be careful what movies on DVD you tend on showing, although its Halloween we don’t want the kids having nightmares.

Halloween night just like bonfire night can include fireworks being set off to liven up the occasion so as well as protecting your kids protect your pets too by keeping them at home where they will be safe warm and out of harms way.

When your household to return to movies for entertainment, it can seem like babies can not actually be involved in the process of buying DVDs. But this is far from the case. You can get your babies, all ages, interested in gathering your individual family unit entertainment. The wholesale software DVD subroutine library, you can grow an organization time together and a fun time. Here’s how to work together on your DVD wholesale software subroutine library as a family.Since DVDs have a way to deal themselves around the firm, the family can begin utilizing wholesale software subroutine library DVD accumulation along with the entire DVD at house. Each child is reliable for a certain section of the home seeing in all the corners and cracks to see if any DVD is secret. Children need to look other DVD players at house or in the boxers next to other TV in bedrooms. This game also could play into a competition, with DVD on seeing the person get some variety of small cost. Do not forget as well that a car with a improved in DVD player can also hold DVD-hidden in the country. If all DVD’s are collected, it is time to insert the entitles in the DVD subroutine library system system of rules. One At A Time, children can sit on the system and effort to see the titles as they can enter the computer within a limited flow of time. With a parent with a solution, children can see who is quick to access entitles. At the identical time, this process will go much faster that everyone is trying to be the success. At the identical time, parents should be checked to ensure entitles are being introduced in the fitting; differently, this operation will not be often help at all for the organization. On the end, when all have inserted the subroutine library DVD software DVD, is time to instruct kids that whenever they bring a new DVD at home, that the entitle should be listed in good. In this style, the child may be responsible for this project, addition the organization scheme may stay for many years compared with merely hardly a days or weeks. Youthfulness will have an easier time keeping the organization that they might have computer skills to complete the job themselves. A great thought is to have an older child to be responsible for wholesale software, test them with a little defrayment to ensure that the listings are therefore far. Large part about DVD software library is that it can travel with a family, therefore there is no need to reenter any DVD title should move. Nevertheless, if you have not corporate your assembling earlier, these games would help you get started and develop the business done – for great

“Martial Arts or Karate may not be a good fit for my daughter.”

We are living in the 21st century, and I still hear this one. This kind of thinking is what has been holding women back for centuries. This statement is not only made by fathers, but by mothers, too. If your daughter wants to try martial arts, let her have a chance. Martial arts classes for girls, or women, are very rewarding.

Over the years, I have coached successful female martial arts competitors who were every bit as good as their male counterparts. In the past, our kids’ karate demonstration team had female captains. At one point, we had more girls on the demonstration team than boys.

Lately, we have hit the opposite cycle, with more boys than girls, as the kids from our kids’ Karate demonstration team perform around the Providence, Rhode Island area. However, girls learn faster, understand precision, can easily grasp complicated techniques, and are usually better kickers.

Some grappling arts, such as Jujitsu, are not as popular with girls, but I have coached good female grapplers, as well. There is no reason to stop your daughter from learning martial arts, if she shows an interest. All of the life skill benefits such as, goal setting, self esteem, self discipline, success, and self defense, make martial arts training as important for girls as it is for boys.

“How can I justify the cost of Karate?”

When you consider that many Karate schools charge less than a babysitter, martial arts training for children is a “bargain.” Consider this formula based upon a fairly high priced Karate studio. Most martial arts studios, in the United States, average around $70 per month to train a child. Granted, some are more and mome are less, but let’s look at your price per hour, if you paid $100 per month.

That comes to just $25 per week, and many Karate studios have a three class limit per week for children. That comes to $8.33 per session for your child to learn life skills, self defense, and play with good kids in a safe environment. Martial arts, for children, are a formula for success, and the cost is really, “peanuts.”

Most well behaved children are allowed to take more Karate classes. The children who “run the staff ragged” will be reminded of the weekly limit. So, the truth is the real cost may be less than peanuts, since there are plenty of martial arts schools, including our center in North Providence, Rhode Island, that charge far less than $100 per month.

Using the formula mentioned above, the cost of Karate per class for a martial arts school, charging the national average of $70 per month, comes to $5.83 per session. Did I say martial arts training is a bargain? Maybe I should have said martial arts training is a steal.

The alternative to plug kids into the television, and put a joystick in their hands, is a big mistake. It’s not any cheaper, when you consider the cost of games and the ever changing video game formats.

On top of that, here’s what video games do for kids: Create anxiety, destroy social skills, teach them a lot about violence, and waste most of their time. All you need to do is throw a Big Mac in their lap every night, and within a year, you should have a child who is a nervous wreck, with poor communication skills, and an obesity problem.

Over the long-term, the wrong after school activities result in very expensive health and psychological care. Therefore, look at martial arts as preventative medicine, and as a bonus, your child is staying out of trouble.

Lastly, if cost is really an issue and you still can’t
justify paying less than you would pay for a babysitter at $5.83 per session, you can still shop around and talk until you find the right karate studio.

A martial arts studio, that is “packed to the rafters” with kids, may not be as negotiable as a Karate studio that is an upstart, or a martial arts center that has plenty of room in their kids Karate classes.

© Copyright 2005 – Paul Jerard / Aura Publications

It’s always enjoyable performing magic tricks for an appreciative audience. Once you get a few magic tricks under your belt, you’ll be hooked on performing your craft because there is something really rewarding when a well executed magic trick leaves your audience in disbelief and applauding all at the same time… and that’s the real magic.
The element of doubt in the mind of your audience is the key to a good magic trick. Just a dab of doubt and you can see the people in your audience start to question their rational… and for that moment the illusion is truly magical.
Being in touch with your audience is the showmanship part of the magic trick and is vitally important. It is also the most fun part as a performer. The look in their eyes, their laughter all make it worthwhile.
When you first start out performing magic tricks, there is a good chance that the bulk of your audiences will be comprised of children. In the eyes of the kids your tricks will truly be magical and the look of the faces and the giggles from the children are a reward like no other.
A child’s imagination and the art of a magic trick are a wonderful combination. A child’s imagination is a wonderful enhancement to any magic trick. It’s that unique and innocent perception of the world that kids have that make performing magic tricks for them all the more rewarding.
Even something as simple as the disappearing coin trick will have kids giggling with joy as you first make the coin disappear then reappear from one of the children’s ears. They’ll love and beg you to do even more with them! And if you can’t get hooked on the innocent reaction of children then you can’t get hooked at all.
The best part about performing magic tricks for kids is that kids just know how to be kids… after all that’s exactly what they are. And magic to kids is just that… magic. I mean… after all… what is the major draw to Disney World for kids… well… Magic Kingdom… of course!
If you are just taking up learning a few magic tricks, an audience full of kids is a great way to get started. And even though you may decide to take your magic tricks to even higher heights, you’ll never have a better audience than a room full of young children.
So don’t worry about starting small… as in kids… you’ll probably find that you’ll always enjoy working your magic with the kids.

Children have an enormous capacity for learning new concepts. However, when their minds are not stimulated, they subconsciously erect walls that prevent the absorption of these concepts. The same is true when teaching kids martial arts. While the physical activity offers a tactile experience which aids the learning process, the routine can quickly become monotonous. When it does, a child can easily lose interest; they may go through the motions during their classes, but fail to truly absorb and memorize what they’re learning.
In today’s article, I’m going to provide a short list of creative martial arts games for kids. They’re designed to make the training fun and exciting while stimulating their minds. You’ll find that children are not only willing to participate, but they’ll become more mentally engaged in learning various skills associated with the martial arts.
#1 – Group Hog Tie
Separate the kids into small groups of 4 or 5. Provide each group with a soft rope or pliable belt. The objective of Group Hog Tie is for the group to use the rope (or belt) to tie the hands and ankles of one member of the group. The target member of each group should maneuver their arms and legs in order to prevent their being tied.
You’ll need to watch each group carefully to ensure that the students don’t use too much force in trying to subdue their group’s target members. This game teaches the children to cooperate with one another toward achieving a shared goal (tying up the target student).
#2 – Blindfolded Judo
This game pits two kids against each other while blindfolded. The goal is for each student to successfully throw his or her opponent and then pin them to the ground. Judo is a perfect style for this game because it focuses primarily upon throwing rather than striking. Technique, timing, and balance are crucial. Blindfolded Judo not only improves a child’s reflexes, but trains them to rely upon senses other than sight.
#3 – Tag Until Thrown
Every child knows how to play tag. One person is “it” and must make contact with another to transfer the “it” status. Tag Until Thrown follows similar rules. First, identify the type of throw you’d like the children to learn. For example, you may want to teach them how to perform an Osoto Gari leg throw or a Tai Otosha body throw.
Next, choose a student to be “it.” That child’s goal is to tag others. When another student is tagged, the “it” status does not transfer to them. Instead, the tagged student is frozen. The only way to “un-freeze” them is for another student to perform the correct throw on the frozen child. The objective is for the “it” student to freeze all of the other kids.
#4 – Stampede
This game begins by choosing one child from the class. Instruct the other kids to line up against one of the walls of the dojo. The first child stands in the middle of the room and selects one person to cross to the other wall. The chosen student must do so by crawling on their hands and knees.
The goal is for the first person (in the middle of the room) to overturn the chosen one and pin them. If they do so successfully, the pinned person becomes part of the first student’s team in the middle and another person is chosen to cross. Otherwise, if the person in the middle fails to pin their opponent, and he or she reaches the other side, all of the other kids begin crawling simultaneously.
These martial arts games can transform an otherwise monotonous class into a fun experience that kids look forward to. The games are designed to involve the children mentally and physically while sparking their natural competitiveness. Most importantly, they’re more likely to learn and retain key skills because they’re enjoying themselves in the process.

Children and magic go together. It is wonderful to see the look of amazement on a child’s face when they watch a magician perform. But it is also terrific if a child has a desire to learn these skills. There are many easy magic tricks for kids; you can find resources online or even in a library. Learning these illusions will not only be a fun experience, there are actually some educational benefits involved. These easy magic tricks for kids help to develop mental and manual skills.
Improved Memorization
Magicians know that the details of every trick need to be committed to memory. Even the easy magic tricks for kids carry that principle. The child must learn the steps of the trick, the hand motions that go along with the trick and also the conversation to keep the audience’s attention and the level of suspense high.
When kids learn easy magic tricks, they are using that portion of their brain that involves memory. Every trick they learn helps to improve the memory process and can also develop excellent study habits.
Increased Manual Dexterity
The magician’s hands say almost as much as his voice. Easy magic tricks for kids allow them to increase their manual dexterity through the illusive actions of a magic performance. Dealing cards, palming a coin, or swiftly moving props all requires hours of practice. This, in turn, leads to supple and swift movement of the hands.
Hand eye coordination becomes more highly developed. The part of the brain responsible for these movements is activated and enlarged, and once again, the child may benefit in other ways. Easy magic tricks for kids are not only educational but develops the flexibility of their hands.
A More Active Mind
Magic is awesome to watch, but it also creates questions. Everyone in the audience wants to know the secret of the tricks performed. Children already have an active interest in the world and magic helps them to ask questions and seek answers. Easy magic tricks for kids will help children start to understand the more difficult concepts of physics, chemistry and probability.
A Powerful Personality
Magicians are in great demand, not only for their ability to amaze and astound, but also because they have high energy and interesting personalities. When kids learn some easy magic tricks, they gain confidence that allows them to speak before audiences. Their personalities and presence will be sought after because they are people others want to be around.
How to Start?
When selecting magic tricks for kids, keep them easy at the beginning. Choose tricks that are age appropriate and those that they will be able to do with their small hands. If you decide to buy a magic kit, make sure you get one that fits the intelligence level of your child. While you want to start off with easy magic tricks, kids will lose interest if their level of involvement doesn’t match up with their academic ability.
Perhaps the most important thing to remember is that magic tricks for kids, whether they are easy or more advanced to master, should be fun. Childhood is already a magical time; encourage your child to make the most of it.

In my magic courses and magic shows, I’m often asked how parents can foster their child’s interest in magic.

In my magic courses and magic shows, I’m often asked how parents can foster their child’s interest in magic.
Below are a few important steps to help to your kids learn how to do magic tricks and explore the Art of Magic.
1.Encourage your children to learn how to do magic tricks through the local library.
You don’t need to buy the latest magic set or stacks of DVDs on sleight of hand to learn how to do magic. Libraries have a ton of resources on magic, magic history, juggling, and magic specifically for kids. It doesn’t hurt that all this knowledge is FREE! A good beginner’s book in magic will provide the initial foundation for your child to learn several magic tricks and help assess their interest in learning more about the Art of Magic.
2. Remind them to practice both the “moves” and the “story” when learning the magic trick. Magicians refer to their “story” as patter. Patter is the words used in the presentation of the magic trick. Kids (and adults) new to magic often focus purely on the “moves” rather than the presentation. Reminding the performer to focus on the story as well as the moves will only help your son or daughter become more proficient in their performance. Plus their magic trick will be more entertaining!
If you want to see some magic trick videos performances from a variety of magicians ranging from Harry Houdini, Criss Angel, David Blaine, and others, you can visit our Magic Video section. We don’t tell the secret, but you’ll get a good idea of what magic should look like.
3. Visit your local magic shop
The library has a lot of resources, but a magic shop is often the defacto hot spot for any budding performer. Reputable magic shops are staffed with experienced prestidigitators that can help your child learn how to do magic. Watch out for any magic dealer who will sell an expensive magic prop without considering the skill of the performer. When purchasing magic, my recommendation is to invest in books before DVDs. Books have a lot of material that can be referred to time and time again. DVDs are good too however, the latest trend in magic is to release one trick per DVD. You want to ensure you get the most magic for your investment. The DVD will also show how the effect will be presented as well as the “secret”. Both books and DVDs are useful learning tools. I prefer these to the standard tricks you find in the glass booths…but those are fun too! Magic shops will sometime host magic nights where local magicians get together and have a “jam session” demonstrating their latest magical pursuit.
You can also visit Kapoof’s Learn Free Magic Tricks library to learn over 100 different magic tricks for free! We feature several tutorials on coin tricks, card tricks, rope tricks, and yes even Street Magic tricks!
4. Join a local magic assembly, ring, or group.
If you search http://www.magicsam.com or http://www.magician.org, you can find a local Assembly or Ring comprised of local magicians in your metropolitan area. Magic meetings are a fun place to network with other hobbyists, professionals, and newbies interested in the Art of Magic. Most magic organizations are welcoming of new members and are willing to share the secrets of their trade. However, the student must be willing to learn and practice rather than expect all the secrets to be revealed.
5. Attend a magic convention
Magic conventions are another excellent way to meet other magicians, see different magic acts, meet different magic vendors, and purchase new magic. Most conventions are held in a hotel where magicians provide lectures, advice, perform parlor sized shows, and even perform full scale theater shows. Every night magicians gather in the lobby and session with each other. It is another easy way to make new friends and learn a few new tricks of the trade.
I hope you found these tips helpful in your child’s pursuit of learning how to do magic. Please visit www.kapoof.com for more information on how to do magic tricks and learn more about the Art of Magic!
